The Dell Streak 5: Your Mini Tablet Phone
Streak 5 is a tablet offered by Dell. It runs on an Android™ 2.2 (Froyo) operating system. It has 5-inch display (12.7 cm) WVGA 800x480 with a dimension of 6 x 3.1 x 0.4 in. The screen is TFT capacitive touchscreen. It also has a scratch-resistant Corning® Gorilla® Glass which makes viewing clearer. The tablet weighs approximately 7.7 oz or 218.29 grams. It runs on a Qualcomm QSD 8250 processor. It has an internal storage of 16 GB, 512 MB ROM and 512 MB RAM. It has a card slot which can support a microSD™ of up to 32GB memory.
A camera is installed at the back with 5.0 MP with auto-focus and LED flash. A secondary camera in the front is also present with VGA specially made for video chat. The rear camera supports Geo-tagging. Connectivity is through Wi-fi™, Bluetooth® and USB v2.0. The browser of the tablet is through WebKit (Android).
The average battery life of the tablet is around 400 hours for stand by time and approximately 10 hours for talk time.
Unlike other tablets, like the
iPad , this tablet also supports calls, SMS and MMS aside from Email and instant messaging (IM). Available colors are red, black and white. Other features include a light sensor and accelerometer. It also supports Google™ Maps and GPS for traffic concerns.
This tablet was released on June 2010.
The Dell Streak 7
The Dell Streak 7 is a tablet that supports Email, IM and video chat. GSM function such as call (except video-calling through the internet), SMS and MMS are not supported except on 3G models (SMS and MMS). It runs on an Android™ 2.2 (Froyo) operating system and NVDIA® Tegra™ 2 processor. The screen is TFT 256K multi-touch color display with a screen size of 7 inches (17.78 cm) and a dimension of 200 x 119.8 x 12.4 mm. Same with Streak 5, it also has a Corning® Gorilla® Glass which makes viewing clearer. The weight is approximately 453.6 grams (1 lb.). It has an internal memory of 16GB and can support up to 32GB memory through SD, MMC, SDHC.
A rear facing camera is set at 5MP with auto focus and flash. On the other hand, the front camera is at 1.3 MP. For connectivity, the tablet has Wi-Fi™ and Bluetooth® v2.1. It also has a built-in GPS. Browser is through WebKit, and an Adobe Flash 10.1 (Froyo) is built-in.
Battery life is set at approximately 72 hours for stand-by time and 4 hours for talk time. Available colors are gray.
The Dell Streak 7 was released last March (2011).
