Form Factor

The Sony Tablet P might not look the typical slate tablet at first glance as it is has two screens that fold together – it looks elegant though when folded. The two screens are 5.5-inch capacitive touch screen each. For some applications, the display might look odd as it is divided by the hinge but surely advantageous for apps with virtual keyboard. The folding screens make the tablet portable and add protection for the screen. The tablet has front and rear cameras installed. MicroUSB slot and the memory card slot can b found on the side of the device.

Models and Competitors

Like the Apple counterpart, the iPad 2, the Sony Tablet P will be available on Wifi only and 3G models. The current market dominator, the iPad 2, will be the Sony Tablet P’s toughest rival along with other Android tablets like the Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab. Another mainstream tablet, the Blackberry Playbook, is also a keen competitor.

Availability, Release Date, Price

The Sony Tablet P has been unveiled in the Recent IFA event (September 2011). It will be officially available for purchase on the fourth quarter of the same year (November 2011). The unit will be sold at £499.
